The 2027 eclipse in Luxor.

Luxor lies inside the path of the total solar eclipse on 2 August 2027. Choose the part of the city where you want to stay, then check the observing location separately. A reference to Luxor or a famous temple does not confirm access, accommodation or a viewing package.

East bank or west bank?

UNESCO’s description of Ancient Thebes places the Karnak and Luxor temples on the Nile’s east bank and the necropolis on the west bank. That distinction is useful when describing where you want to sleep and where you intend to watch the eclipse. “Luxor” alone leaves an important part of the plan unresolved.

Put the bank and neighbourhood in your request. If the sleeping and viewing locations are on different sides, confirm the actual crossing arrangements with the people providing them. Do not infer an eclipse-day journey time from a city-centre distance or assume that a transfer is included in the room price.

A landmark is not an event ticket

Karnak, Luxor Temple and the west-bank archaeological sites have their own access arrangements. A host’s proximity to one of them does not provide permission to observe from it. If a particular site matters to your plan, seek confirmation from its responsible authority and keep that separate from the accommodation agreement.

Comfort over the whole stay

Describe what you need before and after eclipse morning: suitable beds, cooling, drinking-water arrangements, step-free access if required, and an agreed check-out time. Ask the host to confirm each essential feature rather than inferring it from photographs. Record whether outdoor space is private, shared or unavailable and whether your whole party may use it.

For hosts

Welcome eclipse travellers to your city

Have a room or a whole home to offer? Tell us the city, dates, capacity and what guests can genuinely use. Host interest registration is free, with Spanish and Arabic forms. Publication depends on the applicable local requirements and review; a submitted form does not publish an advert.

Eligible listings published through 30 November 2026 are free; afterwards, the fee is €100 per listing. Guest and host arrange the stay and payment directly, without an accommodation commission.

For travellers

Tell us where you would like to stay

Join the paid waitlist from €5 once for directory development and initial requirements review. A higher confirmed net payment prioritises that review, with payment time breaking ties; it does not improve a bid or secure accommodation. Earlier free registrations remain valid.

We review completeness, your preferred area and next steps by 30 November 2026, or a full refund is due. The full 14-day withdrawal right remains. Traveller access opens on 1 December and is purchased separately.

Destination questions

Will the 2027 eclipse be total in Luxor?

At the reference coordinates for Luxor, totality on 2 August 2027 is estimated from 12:02:10 to 12:08:33 CEST (UTC+2), lasting about 6 min 23 s. Check your exact address against the NASA eclipse map.

Are the Luxor times local clock times?

All displayed times use the common CEST (UTC+2) reference; the downloadable dataset stores UTC. These computed estimates are not necessarily the destination’s local civil time. Keep the time-zone label and confirm the clock used by your host or transport provider.

Does a stay in Luxor include a viewing spot?

Only if the host explicitly includes it. Confirm whether the offer is an overnight stay, a viewing-only space or both, with access hours, capacity and permission to use the space. At this reference point the Sun is about 82° above the horizon at maximum; check obstructions at your actual spot. This guide does not confirm availability.
