The 2027 eclipse in Oran.

Oran is a totality destination for 2 August 2027. Algeria’s astronomy research centre, CRAAG, names the city in its account of the eclipse. Start with an exact address, rather than assuming every place advertised as western Algeria has the same view.

Use the right eclipse date

CRAAG discusses both the partial eclipse of August 2026 and the total eclipse of August 2027. A photograph, timetable or viewing suggestion for the earlier event cannot be carried over to this one. When exchanging details, write “2 August 2027” explicitly and ask for the source of any proposed observing time.

Separate the city name from the map pin

An “Oran” accommodation search can describe your preferred destination without identifying the precise sleeping or viewing location. Ask for the neighbourhood and a usable arrival point before making a direct agreement. For an outdoor viewing area, establish who controls access and whether it is included in the stay.

If your observing location differs from your accommodation, save both addresses and agree how your party will move between them. We do not attach a journey time to an unverified route. Keep check-in arrangements and eclipse plans in the same written conversation so the host can identify conflicting assumptions.

A useful request for an Oran host

Tell a prospective host your party size, arrival and departure dates, preferred contact language and whether beds must be in one property. Ask for the full stay price, payment method, cancellation terms and the host’s applicable local authorisation before agreeing to accommodation. Expressing interest here does not establish that a property has been approved or is available.

Join the paid waitlist from €5 once for directory development and initial requirements review. A higher confirmed net payment prioritises that review, with payment time breaking ties; it does not improve a bid or secure accommodation. Earlier free registrations remain valid.

We review completeness, your preferred area and next steps by 30 November 2026, or a full refund is due. The full 14-day withdrawal right remains. Traveller access opens on 1 December and is purchased separately.

At the reference coordinates for Oran, totality on 2 August 2027 is estimated from 10:50:58 to 10:56:08 CEST (UTC+2), lasting about 5 min 9 s. Check your exact address against the NASA eclipse map.

Are the Oran times local clock times?

All displayed times use the common CEST (UTC+2) reference; the downloadable dataset stores UTC. These computed estimates are not necessarily the destination’s local civil time. Keep the time-zone label and confirm the clock used by your host or transport provider.

Does a stay in Oran include a viewing spot?

Only if the host explicitly includes it. Confirm whether the offer is an overnight stay, a viewing-only space or both, with access hours, capacity and permission to use the space. At this reference point the Sun is about 43° above the horizon at maximum; check obstructions at your actual spot. This guide does not confirm availability.
