North Africa · 2 August 2027

One eclipse.
Five North African cities.

On 2 August 2027, the path of totality crosses Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt. These five city guides help you connect the astronomy with the practical question: where will you spend the night?

Choose a city to explore

Read the local details before narrowing your preferred area. These are five starting points along the path, not a ranking of destinations.

Turn a destination into a workable plan

  1. 1

    Pick the observing point

Check the exact map pin against the eclipse path. A city name is a useful starting point; your room, courtyard and observing area may be in different places.

  2. 2

Describe the night before and after

Tell us the nights you need, party size, preferred area and essential comforts. Decide whether the whole group must stay together and whether you need an outdoor space.

  3. 3

    Agree the details directly

Ask a prospective host about the full price, arrival, cancellation, local authorisation and any access to a viewing area. Keep those terms in writing.

For hosts

Welcome eclipse travellers to your city

Have a room or a whole home to offer? Tell us the city, dates, capacity and what guests can genuinely use. Host interest registration is free, with Spanish and Arabic forms. Publication depends on the applicable local requirements and review; a submitted form does not publish an advert.

Eligible listings published through 30 November 2026 are free; afterwards, the fee is €100 per listing. Guest and host arrange the stay and payment directly, without an accommodation commission.

For travellers

Tell us where you would like to stay

Join the paid waitlist from €5 once for directory development and initial requirements review. A higher confirmed net payment prioritises that review, with payment time breaking ties; it does not improve a bid or secure accommodation. Earlier free registrations remain valid.

We review completeness, your preferred area and next steps by 30 November 2026, or a full refund is due. The full 14-day withdrawal right remains. Traveller access opens on 1 December and is purchased separately.

Protect your eyes during the partial phases

Use appropriate solar viewers whenever the Sun is partly visible. Ordinary sunglasses are not solar viewers. Follow NASA’s instructions for filters and for any binoculars, cameras or telescopes.

Sources and scope

We compared the cities with primary eclipse sources and wrote the practical planning notes separately. Exact circumstances depend on the observing point. We are independent of the cited institutions.

Computed times use CEST (UTC+2) as one comparison clock across the guide, not each destination’s local civil time. The downloadable data preserves UTC contacts.
