The 2027 eclipse in Sfax.

Sfax’s city reference point is inside the path of totality on 2 August 2027. We checked it against NASA’s published northern and southern limits. That supports planning for totality in the city; it does not assign the same duration to every address in the wider governorate.

How we checked Sfax

The reference is approximately 34.75°N, 10.72°E. At that longitude, interpolation of NASA’s path table places the boundary latitudes near 35.71°N and 33.43°N. Sfax lies between them. This is our geographical comparison, not a quotation of city timings; the IMCCE source supplies coordinates only, from an older report.

The medina is an area, not a viewing reservation

Tunisia’s submission on UNESCO’s Tentative List describes Sfax’s walled medina and its regular street plan. A place described as near the medina still needs an exact entrance and a clear explanation of access. The Tentative List entry is not confirmation of a World Heritage inscription or a public eclipse event.

For a room in or near the old city, ask where the party can gather without blocking entrances or shared spaces. Confirm any terrace permission, stairs and capacity directly. A historic setting can be part of your visit while your eclipse observation takes place at a separately checked location.

Use “Sfax, Tunisia” in your requirements

Add the neighbourhood if you already know it, whether you can consider surrounding areas, and whether all travellers need the same property. List the nights you need rather than only the eclipse date. Our waitlist records the request for review; it does not hold a room in Sfax or promise a host introduction.

Join the paid waitlist from €5 once for directory development and initial requirements review. A higher confirmed net payment prioritises that review, with payment time breaking ties; it does not improve a bid or secure accommodation. Earlier free registrations remain valid.

We review completeness, your preferred area and next steps by 30 November 2026, or a full refund is due. The full 14-day withdrawal right remains. Traveller access opens on 1 December and is purchased separately.

Destination questions

Will the 2027 eclipse be total in Sfax?

At the reference coordinates for Sfax, totality on 2 August 2027 is estimated from 11:08:44 to 11:14:25 CEST (UTC+2), lasting about 5 min 41 s. Check your exact address against the NASA eclipse map.

Are the Sfax times local clock times?

All displayed times use the common CEST (UTC+2) reference; the downloadable dataset stores UTC. These computed estimates are not necessarily the destination’s local civil time. Keep the time-zone label and confirm the clock used by your host or transport provider.

Does a stay in Sfax include a viewing spot?

Only if the host explicitly includes it. Confirm whether the offer is an overnight stay, a viewing-only space or both, with access hours, capacity and permission to use the space. At this reference point the Sun is about 56° above the horizon at maximum; check obstructions at your actual spot. This guide does not confirm availability.
